Breakfast at SHELTER CAFE.
Shelter Cafe embodies the heart of surf culture with its Hawaiian-inspired Menu.
This popular rooftop café is located off the beaten path, so it can be a bit tricky to find! But head down the laneway to No 2A JL. Drupdai in Seminyak and you will stumble upon the entrance via the staircase, next to the Nalu Bowls surf shack storefront. It has been renovated in recent years, so the bottom level now incorporates a lifestyle store which you can browse after breakfast.
As you ascend into the main dining area of Shelter Café, the ambient outdoor setting surrounds you. The rooftop restaurant is fresh and airy, so it almost feels like dining in a treehouse, as resembled in the logo design. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, but this place is busy so be prepared for a short wait to get a table.
The waitstaff are prompt to take your order though and personally, I found the hardest decision was deciding on what to have! The Shelter Café main menu includes a choice of fresh food, including granola, chia seed pudding, quinoa porridge, hot cakes, smashed avo, a breakfast burrito or eggs done in any style. Or, you may also choose from the tantalising selection of fresh and delicious Nalu Bowls, which you can have sent up from the breakfast bar downstairs.
Shelter Cafe holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first place the crew and I went for breakfast on our inaugural trip to Bali.
I ordered a fresh coconut, a coffee and the eggwhite omelette, which was light and fluffy and so satisfying. I’ve since been back for lunch and the burgers are also just as good!
The food is here is fresh and delicious, so it’s a must to add to your Brunch in Bali BUCKET LIST!
