We all love the sense of connection that we establish via social media. But sometimes it can be hard to focus when you are spending all of your spare time online. So for the last ten months I have a taken a DIGITAL DETOX – and I am so glad I did!
It’s been a hot minute since my last post and for that I’m sorry, as I know I promised to try to keep up!
But somehow, that just didn’t happen, as 2019 has been one hell of a year. In fact, I’d even go so far as to say it has been transformational in so many aspects of my life and I really wanted to share the journey with you along the way! But what can I say; sometimes you just have to stop, take a digital detox and make yourself a priority.
For me, this has been a huge year of personal development.
The universe has pushed me to become a better version of myself (in so many ways) and I am so proud of everything that I have achieved! If you’ve read my last post you’ll know I’m quite spiritual person and I often turn to the tarot for guidance. Earlier this year I had a reading that predicted my life would start to take a new path – and that is exactly what happened when I took a digital detox!
I’m a strong believer in the law of attraction and as soon as I shifted my mindset by shutting off from social media, so many doors started opening!
Firstly, I set my sights on career growth and landed a new role as a Cabin Crew Standards Service Instructor. Training new cabin crew recruits has reinvigorated my passion for aviation and opened up a lot of new opportunities for me in my career. (In fact, something super exciting is on the way, so keeping watching this space!)
I’ve been a bit torn for quite some time now, as I love flying and am so glad that I quit my corporate career to become a Flight Attendant! For now I want to keep flying, but part of me wants to return to the field of marketing one day, to be able work from home when I have children. So I decided to finally go back to study and am so proud to say that I can now tick a university postgraduate degree off my Bucket List!
Studying whilst flying full time was a huge commitment and has consumed most of my time and energy throughout 2019.
I did squeeze in a quick break with my bestie though when we set off for a quick Bali vacay to celebrate her birthday. And I also found love and had boyfriend for the first time in over ten years! (But then he dumped me a few months later – and I’ve only just recovered from having my heart broken).
Love really does work in mysterious ways and couldn’t have come at worse time for me!
I was super stressed out trying to keep up with work and uni, and he lived an hour and half away, which made spending time together difficult. We both wanted to make it work, but if I’m honest, I knew from the very beginning that he wasn’t ‘The One’.
We definitely shared a strong soul connection though and strangely enough, I’m so glad our paths crossed again, as he had such a big impact of my life! He taught me things about myself that I had supressed for so long. He helped me to refocus my career goals and I now know that I need to place more focus on my relationships, as that is what is truly most important to me. And although I got my heart broken (again!), it has made me want to find true love more than ever!
We all look to Instagram influencers and imagine ourselves in happy relationships, looking picture perfect and living our best life every second of the day!
But what I have learnt this year is that the path to get there is not as simple as it may seem online. Taking a digital detox has helped me to discover things about myself that had been blocking me in achieving my goals and stopping me from finding love!
So if you are facing the same struggle, I’d definitely recommend checking out and taking time out just do you for a minute! The digital world will still be waiting for you when you are ready to come back – and to be honest, not much will have changed on the surface. But what you will find is a dramatic shift in the underlying way in which you view yourself and your place in the world!
