BALI Food Review: Breakfast at I AM VEGAN BABE.

POST SERIES!

Breakfast at I AM VEGAN BABE.

I Am Vegan Babe was one of my favourite finds during my last visit to Canggu, Bali! The food here is delicious and the staff are so friendly. It’s a relaxed indoor / outdoor space with views of the rice fields, where you can escape and refuel your body.

I discovered this cute little vegan cafe nestled on the corner of the road and stopped in for breakfast.

The space caught my eye and once inside I was greeted by the friendly owners, who had recently opened the café. They were excited to be in their first few weeks of trading and welcomed me into their space.

At first I was drawn to the setting itself. The cafe is positioned on the corner of a quiet side street, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the main road and it expands over two levels.

The store design features a thatched roof, creating an organic feel and when I looked up, I was amazed to see that the ceiling of the outdoor awning was covered in seashells. The owner later told me that she and her family had collected them from the seashore and through this conversation I could feel the love that they had put into creating this amazing cafe!

As the name suggests, the menu at I Am Vegan Babe is 100% plant-based and they advocate plant powered nutrition.

In creating this cute little café, the owners are seeking to break down the stigma surrounding veganism. They want to show customers that making the conscious choice to swap meat and dairy with plant based alternatives can have a positive impact on our lifestyle and the world in which we live in. However, this also does not mean sacrificing delicious food!

Whilst I am not vegan, nor plant-based, I love plant-based food and feel and million times better when I nourish my body with organic ingredients.

That being said, I would also like to point out that vegan does not necessarily mean ‘healthy’ so it is important to still be aware of maintaining a balance. However, I was on holidays, so I allowed myself to indulge and devoured the complimentary cake which they served up with my coffee, to celebrate their opening!

My sweet tooth then set in and for breakfast I ordered the Vegan Waffles, which were the best waffles I’ve had in Bali!

Topped with slices of banana, strawberries and kiwi fruit, drizzled with chocolate sauce and served with flamingo whipped coconut cream and a selection of sweet compote spreads, they were so satisfying! I’m still craving them and will definitely be back for more. I’m also excited to try some of the savoury options so this cute little café is top of my list to return to when I’m next in Canggu.

Be sure to add I AM VEGAN BABE to your Brunch in Bali BUCKET LIST!
