Bad Hair Day? Why Change Is As Good As A Holiday!

Do Blondes Really Have More Fun? I’m a natural brunette, so I’ve always been curious! So after I finally got the courage to go blonde, I can now share some insight with you on how it differs from the dark side!

For 33 years I had been a brunette with very dark hair. Reluctantly, I’d make my annual appointment to see a colourist, terrified that they were going to turn my hair orange! So I’d nervously ask for balayage, highlights, or whatever else was on trend at the time. That is, until recently, when I suddenly decided to bleach my hair BLONDE! Dramatic I know, but guess what.. I LOVE IT! It’s so different from what I’ve been used to that it did come as a bit of a shock at first, but I did slowly get used to it.

A change is as good as a holiday and they say that when a woman changes her hair she is ready to change her world!

And for me, that was certainly the case. Technically I didn’t do it. I’m not quite that brave… Besides, I’m certain that my hair would have fallen out if I attempted a DIY job that bold. (I did once have a professional colourist ruin my hair the week before my sister’s wedding. So this really didn’t help me to overcome my nerves!).

But, it’s making the decision to do something different that really takes courage. Much like anything in life really. Sticking within our comfort zone is always going to be the easy option, but if you really want to get the most out of life you need to challenge yourself! After all, I never would have found my passion for travel if didn’t push myself to step outside my comfort zone and I wouldn’t be working as a Flight Attendant if I hadn’t been seeking a new challenge.

Being blonde has given me a new perspective on life.

It is actually true that people do treat you differently when you have blonde hair! Crazy I know, although not actually in the way you might think. I’ve noticed that people seem to find me more approachable and look in my direction, holding their gaze for longer. Which initially gave me paranoia each time I set foot in public!

It was a little disconcerting to me at first, however, I’ve got used to that now. Actually, I appreciate men now looking at my face, instead of that feeling of being looked up and down, which I was very aware of as a brunette! I guess natural blondes have grown up not knowing any different. However, I’ll always be a brunette at heart and one day I’ll definitely go back to the dark side.

But hey, why not mix things up a little for now! After all, life is too short to have boring hair! In this section of the site, I’ll be sharing inspiration with you to help you change up your hair so that you don’t cringe every time you look back on your travel photos!
