Practical Outfits for Exploring the Back Streets!
I constantly see shots of celebrities and style icons on the street in heels and wonder how on earth they do it! Whilst sky-high stilettos may look amazing in photos, they are not always practical… Sometimes you have to know when to be street smart and choose comfort over style! And in particular, when to choose sneakers over stilettos!
In my early twenties, I lived in heels.
I even remember trying to negotiate the cobblestone streets of Verona, Italy, in stilettos, during the day! Trying to elegantly recover from falling down an escalator in Prague, as I slipped in my stiletto-heeled boots. And madly rushing across the street in heels, whilst trying to hail the bus! (I have no idea why I did that to myself).
Whilst I still have to deal with the perils of heels at work, nowadays, I have an obsession with sneakers! I love the simple look of classic white Converse sneakers, but have been an avid fan of Vans for many years. And about a year and a half ago I bought several pairs of Nike trainers and I have barely taken them off since. So they are literally the best investment I ever made!
Besides, living out of a suitcase can be challenging enough!
Especially when you didn’t have room to pack the perfect pair of shoes. Or, the matching handbag which you need to complete an outfit. Or worse still, when you’ve been living in the same sweatshirt for the last three days! We all set off picturing ourselves wearing the perfect outfits in our travel photos. But the reality is that mid-trip we are usually just happy to find a laundromat.
Let’s face it. When you are travelling it’s not always possible to look a million dollars every day! So sometimes, it really is best to just play it cool and pull off an edgy streetwear look instead. Join me for a style session in how to the put together the perfect outfit for exploring the back streets.
