THE BACHELOR IS BACK! CALLING ALL THE SINGLE LADIES!

Ladies do we have any fans of The Bachelor out there? Although I’ve had my ups and downs on the path to finding love, I’m still a hopeless romantic at heart! So I’m super excited for the new season of the Australian series of the show, which premieres on Channel Ten on July 26. Not long to go now, so the countdown is on… ladies get your wine glasses ready!

Something you don’t know about me yet? I actually applied to be a contestant on The Bachelor back in early 2014!

I’d relocated to Melbourne to become a Flight Attendant. Initially, though, I was employed on a casual contract and work was slow at the time. I’d also made the move to start a new journey in my personal life. After having my heart broken, over and over again, in my home state of Queensland I was happy flying solo. However, making a fresh start in Melbourne, I was determined to put this behind me. So I’m now open to finding love again!

When I saw the casting call, I thought, why the hell not and went online and completed the questionnaire.

The application process is actually quite intensive and I found it quite confronting.

It was the first time I had really sat down and thought about my previous relationships and what I was looking for in love and life. So after gathering my thoughts, putting it all down in writing was extremely liberating!

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how I felt about appearing on national TV looking for love! So I didn’t give it too much more thought. Until the casting agent called me one morning. She asked a few more questions and invited me to attend the auditions. However, by this point, I had picked up more shifts at work. Sadly, my flying schedule wouldn’t allow for me to be away for months during filming. So I chose my career over finding love.

As it turns out it, a friend of mine also auditioned to be The Bachelor for the same series!

I’m not going to mention names, but you know him well if you tuned into the last season of The Bachelorette. Ironically, his travel plans also got in the way and he set off to explore Europe instead. At that time we had never crossed paths. But by a strange act of fate we met when training at the same gym, here in Melbourne, approximately two years ago.

I am a strong believer in fate! Whilst we didn’t fall in love, I do believe that people come in and out of our lives for a reason! I’m still not sure why exactly I had this encounter. But at some point, no doubt it will become clear to me!

In fact, I almost feel like The Bachelor is following me around!

By chance, I also happened to see the film crew in Bali last year. They were filming the finale for 2016 series of The Bachelor with Richie Strahan. Whilst the show might be a rather unique way of finding love, personally I fear that the pressure of dating in the public eye would be too confronting for me. But I wish Matty J all the best in his quest to find ‘The One!’

Despite being controversial, there’s no denying that we all love a good fix of reality romance and I can’t wait for the new season to start! Are you obsessed with The Bachelor too? Who is your favourite ever bachelor? Please comment below!
